In the 6th century BCE, a man named Siddhartha Gautama was born into a wealthy family in Nepal. From a young age, he was sheltered from the harsh realities of life and lived a life of luxury. However, Siddhartha became increasingly curious about the outside world and, at 29 years old, he left his home to find answers to his questions.
Siddhartha spent the next 6 years living as an ascetic, meditating and searching for enlightenment. One day, he finally attained Buddhahood after sitting beneath a tree for 49 days. He then spent the next 45 years teaching others about his path to enlightenment.
